How we Knew it was Time to Start Trying for a Baby (~again)

I know this is ultimately in God's plans but I had a list of criteria I needed to accomplish in my life (part of our 10 (now 11 year plan) before we actually started trying to have a baby. Our first pregnagcy that ended in a miscarriage was unplanned so while knowing God is in control, I wanted to get through a few a few more milestones in life before we even started trying for real to have a baby.

 List of Criteria:

Main goals

I wanted to be married for 5 years before we started trying. I also want to give birth before our 6th anniversary (which we will be doing). I wanted to be at least 4 years into my career before we started trying. I waned us to be 28 before we started trying and give birth at 28 still. I wanted Cody to be done with his masters degree before we started trying. We needed to be in a house and not our apartment to start trying. Lucy needed to be 1.5 years old when morning sickness hits at 6 weeks along (which I was 6 weeks 1 day when she turned 1.5 years old). Lucy also needs to be at least 2 when the baby is born which she will be. I wanted to have a Fall early pregnancy and give birth before it gets too hot in summer (early June) which we will be doing. It would be perfect to give birth right before the dead period in football so Cody can have 2 weeks to help out and bond when I am already somewhat healed and we have a routine down. I'm planning for my mom to stay with me for 2 weeks until Cody can be home. Luckily Cody only has morning football practice in June when the baby is born.

Specific goals I had set for myself that I check off as I went. With natural family planning it can be difficult to control pregnancy but my goal was to hit all of these points:

  • Start Prenatal vitamins October 29th 2020 having them for almost a year before conceiving.
  • Baby born after Cody is done with his masters degree (don't conceive before November 2020)
  • Get pregnant after our angel baby's due date (January 7th 2021)
  • Get pregnant after 4 natural cycles off of the pill (don't conceive before end of January 2021 cycle)
  • Have at least 3 months of prenatals (don't conceive before mid February cycle)
  • Cycle after March 26th 2021 (my old date I got pregnant a year ago) (don't conceive before May cycle)
  • Baby born outside of 2021 (don't conceive before May cycle)
  • Get pregnant after covid crazies end June 1st 2021 (don't conceive before June cycle)
  • Get pregnant after 5th anniversary on June 4th 2021 (don't conceive before mid June cycle)
  • Get pregnant after 5th anniversary trip June 5th 2021 (don't conceive before mid June cycle)
  • Get pregnant after 1 year d&c anniversary July 1st 2021 (don't conceive before mid July cycle)
  • Get pregnant after Cody's last Masters degree class is over July 9th 2021 (don't conceive before end of July cycle)
  • Get pregnant after turning 28 years old July 12th 2021 (don't conceive before end of July cycle)
  • Baby born when Lucy is 2 years old (April 20th 2022) (so don't conceive before August)
  • Not too far away from babymoon December 27th 2021 (so don't conceive earlier than beginning of September and not too early on in pregnancy so no later than end of October conceive)
  • Conceive before my cousin Hannah conceives with her second baby end of September 17th 2021 (so conceive before or on September cycle) (I don't want to be too far behind everyone).
  • Lucy needed to be 1.5 years old when morning sickness hits at 6 weeks along (which I was 6 weeks 1 day when she turned 1.5 years old) OR needs to be 18 months (October 20th 2021) before we conceive so (conceive October cycle on either October 7th or October 14th)
  • Conceive after some weight loss and can enjoy holidays and pregnancy (Conceive before Halloween 2021).
  • Conceive near the holidays so I'm not far along at all for Christmas (preferably 8-16 weeks by December 25th).
  • Give birth to a summer baby so conceive no later than October 30th 2021.
  • Give birth before football season August 5th 2022 (so conceive no later than October 30th 2021.

Yes I'm crazy but it all worked out exactly as planned. I would have loved to have gotten pregnant in the beginning of October but that would push baby's due date to when we were 29 years old and into our 6th year of marriage. I really wanted us to be 28 when we gave birth still and still in our 5th year of marriage. Cody wanted to have a baby when we were 26 so the latest I could get him on board with is 28 because I wanted to be 30 when I got pregnant but his limit was our 5th anniversary to get pregnant so I had to work my magic and we compromised to trying and getting pregnant in September even though the baby won't have a July birthday like us.
