About me

Hi! My name is Kayla Nicole Raborn!! Welcome to my blog!

I am a 29 year old engineer with a side passion of writing and documentation. Growing up I have always loved writing in my diaries, telling stories (true or untrue), and connecting with my family, so I thought starting a blog would so perfectly fit this creative outlet of mine. 

I am extremely easy to get along with but am typically on the shy side when you meet me for the first time. I have a kind heart and love reflecting on this roller coaster called life. I love the Lord, for He has been the concrete to the foundation of my life and His hand has guided me in absolutely every aspect of my 29 years. He has blessed me well. 

I met my sweet husband in 3rd grade and we started dating with a month left of high school and continued long distance for the next 5 years until getting engaged on April 18th 2015, and married on June 4th 2016. We took a two part honeymoon to Panama City Beach FL, and Walt Disney World. We saved our selves for marriage which made getting married and finally living in the same place even more sweet. We are the first person either of us had ever dated.

Cody is a high school history teacher and defensive line coach for football. He attended Martin University. I attended UT and am a Materials Science Engineer at Shaw Industries. Cody was born on July 11th and I was born on July 12th, a day younger than him!

Cody and I have been married for over 6 years. Our love story is so so sweet but was about to get even sweeter as our love had grown into two little feet and baby Raborn was due December 2020 by such surprise, but a miscarriage stopped us in our tracks. It took us so long to move forward past this loss but with God's help and countless prayer, we continue on with Hope. We hope to continue expanding our family towards the later end of Fall in 2021, after we turn 28, have been married for 5 years and Cody finished his Masters Degree from Liberty University. Update, we did just that! We found out we were pregnant on October 4th 2021 at 4 weeks and 1 day along! We are expecting our miracle rainbow baby BOY in June 2022! Our little guy's feet are clubbed just liked his dad and grandfather but that won't hold him back for a second, he's stubborn just like his mom and dad! Our sweet Conner James Raborn was born June 10th 2022 and is beyond perfect in every way!!

We have added a sweet golden retriever named Lucy to our pack, and are just soaking in the moments of immense joy in this phase of life, she has been the perfect addition to our lives especially during such dark times in 2020. 

I am the oldest of all 9 of my cousins and I have a younger sister (3 years younger), Morgan, who is also an engineer (electrical) and is my best friend! She married her high school sweetheart, Edgar, on June 1st 2019, 3 years after Cody and I got married almost to the day! Morgan lives and works in Kingsport TN.

We live in Apison TN and built the home of our dreams after 4 years of apartment living in Ooltewah TN.

We are really close with our parents. I love spending time with my mama, especially during this time since I am seeking guidance as I once carried a sweet babe in my belly but unfortunately ended in a misdiagnosed blighted ovum, missed miscarriage at 6 weeks 1 day, failed miscarriage until 13 weeks and ultimately a D&C at 14 weeks on July 1st 2020. And all during quarantine and without my sweet husband being able to be present due to the restrictions. That was one of the most trying times of my life but we find extreme Hope and Peace in Christ through all of this and our future. 

I am an extremely active person who wouldn't mind spending every waking moment playing, running, hiking, snow skiing, water skiing, doing workout videos or working out in or home gym, or riding my unicycle. I grew up playing organized sports of gymnastics for 8 years, soccer for 6, basketball for 6, tennis for 7, horseback riding for 4 years, and track for 2 years.

Writing is my passion and I love pouring my heart out for other to relate.
