Engagement Story/Video

It's about time for me to make the engagement video more available to watch so I've added it to the tool bar! This amazing day took place April 18th 2015. The entire engagement story is in! Read below the video for all of the details!!

So here is the entire story of how our forever officially began!

I decided to give lots of details about the engagement because simply I can't stand when people get engaged and only tell close family the story, so if you want to know here it is!! :-) as of 3:45pm the day before, all I knew Cody would propose at some point before Thanksgiving 2015 and that's all I knew. But Cody is a GENIUS! The way he set up his proposal, I basically got to pick my own engagement day without knowing.

So what Cody did is he told my wonderful preacher, Ann Robins who I adore, to ask to have lunch with me sometime in April at Lakeside Tavern at 4:00pm (my favorite restaurant so I would know to look nice and to not suspect anything) so Ann asked me at church one Sunday and I was overjoyed and choose the date. So Friday afternoon/evening before the proposal I talked to Cody on the phone asking how his day was and he said good but I can't talk much the rest of the day (because he was driving to Chattanooga which I didn't know) and was a little bummed about. On Fridays we had skype dates.

So on Saturday morning I called Cody after I woke up and he says, "dear I can't talk but 15 minutes because I have to turn in this online hw and go to football meetings the rest of the day (because he was in Knoxville setting everything up) and I was very sad and lonely since it was the weekend and I hadn't seen him in 35 days, to be honest, a few tears were shed. Cody felt so bad because he knew about the awesome surprise later that day and I didn't and he almost caved and told me. So later my Nana picked me up to drop me off at Lakeside to meet with Ann. The whole way there Nana drove incredibly slow the entire way (to give Cody time to get into position) and I thought that was so strange for lead-footed Nana.

When we got there I got out of the car and saw a girl with a video camera pointed at me and the first thing I thought was man no one has any personal boundaries anymore, and then I look near her and there's an extremely handsome and we'll dressed man standing there. I looked closer and realize it's Cody! I ran into his arms, I was in complete shock and thought the surprise was that he was there to see me. Then he took me by the hand and lead me to this serene beautiful quiet spot overlooking the lake under a tree and his guitar is leaned up against the tree. A this point I realized what's going on. I was over-thrilled. Absolutely over-thrilled!!! Cody picks up the guitar and starts to sing the song, Angel, by Casting Crowns one of my favorite songs! I was in awe the entire time, it felt like a dream and I was hoping so badly I wasn't about to wake up. Cody had an amazing voice! After the song Cody gets down on one knee and asks to marry me and I jump into his arms and immediately say YES!!! Once I finally looked down, It was the prettiest ring I had ever seen in my life! The girl who worked there said let's get a close up on video and my hand was shaking so badly. Then Cody said, the nights not over yet, and I'm thinking holy cow awesome!! So he led me to this romantic spot on the balcony to a table overlooking the water outside with roses sitting in a vase. (we could barely eat from excitement) but we had a very special time talking about our next steps and the behind the scenes of the proposal which I was DYING to hear. After that Cody took me to a park to see my Mom and Morgan so they could see it first which was so important to me and we immediately got in a jumping squealing circle (mom, me, and Morgan) and ooooh and ahhhh over the ring.

Then Cody took me to see my other family members for them to see us and the ring, and then we headed down to Chattanooga to show his family and then the rest of my family down there. That was the best gift in the world and the only thing I could have ever asked for. There is nothing more important to me in this world than my family ("my" as in me and Cody's family) and there's no one in the world I would have rather been with on one of the most important and special day of my life. That part of the day was so special to experience with Cody. After that we drove back to Knoxville and celebrated with insomnia cookies together and sat on the swing outside my apartment building swinging in the moonlight with a cool breeze blowing as we hugged (and maybe kissed a lot). What a magical day!! I love Cody so much! He did an amazing job and I just couldn't stop looking at my beautiful ring. I couldn't wait to become a Raborn and Codys wife! He has made all of my dreams come true by allowing me the honor to become his wife. The future is so exciting and I can't wait for God to lead us down our path he has planned for us!!

Love,
Kayla Raborn
