So the weekend before the wedding, I drove up to Knoxville to do some last minute planning with Morgan and mom. We made our lists, prepared for the bridesmaids luncheon, rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and organized our things into a Thursday box, Friday box, and Saturday box.
On Friday, Morgan and Edgar raced to get their marriage license with only 5 minutes to spare on the last day they could possibly get it 😅 cutting it close, then met with the reception venue planners for last minute details and finished off the day with Chuys.
To end the weekend of tying up loose ends, mom and I took Morgan to her "bachelorette" party. I use the term bachelorette loosely because we don't drink or believe in traditional bachelorette parties or bachelor parties. This is just our families preferences. For Edgar he went camping for 3 days with his groomsmen, when Cody and I got married he took his groomsmen to a field to throw the football and then chilled in the hotel pool and room together drinking root beer. I wanted to have a sleepover and jumpjam night with my bridesmaids but no one cared to do that with me because my bridesmaids were my cousins and not my friends, but for Morgan, we went to West Town mall and got dip n dots and pretzels and ended the night with a much needed, relaxing game of putt-putt, Morgan's favorite!
We of course had to get Morgan a bride-to-be sash and I grabbed a quick Matron of Honor hat!
We went to Sir Gooney's in Knoxville. Best putt-putt place in town!
(The bridesmaids didn't come to the showers either because she has the same bridesmaids that I had and we both didn't have a single one of them at either of our two showers. I'm not bitter, you're bitter. But seriously😑😒 #beyondannoyed) One is excused because she lives very far away).
Anyways, this is about Morgan. So after putt-putt, the next day, we made Morgan's practice bouquet out of her shower present bows for the rehearsal. Look how pretty it turned out!
I took every picture under the moon but didn't manage to get one of Gigi and Morgan on my phone. They were taken on Gigi's actual camera to forever not be seen by me. Sorry! Gigi and mom were the ones who actually made it. I just was the coach on the sidelines ha.
Since it was Memorial Day weekend, we all didn't work on Monday so Morgan and I worked 3 days this week (taking off Friday, and Mom and Cody were already out for school).
We arrived back at Gigi's house Thursday night gearing up ready for the best weekend ever! Dad flew in Tuesday before the wedding with the rest of the out of town wedding guests arriving Thursday morning.
Friday morning we began the strict schedule:
Life is so much smoother with a well-planned schedule! :)
Friday went off without a hitch, we got our nails done in time, the bridal luncheon was amazing thanks to Gigi, and we decorated the church and the Museum (reception place) after the luncheon and before the rehearsal at the church. The rehearsal dinner was so neat! Mixing the two cultures together and having a taste of authentic Mexican food was a special treat! They had the rehearsal dinner in the clubhouse in Nana's neighborhood. Nana did a great job setting everything up Thursday night and Friday morning! We ended the rehearsal with a fun game I made of he said/ she said. Morgan and Edgar sat back to back holding each other's shoes answering questions about each other by holding up each other's shoe!
The next morning it was go time! Everything was in place and the schedule was followed as planed.
I had my printed out Maid of Honor speech ready and followed Morgan around all day making sure everything was going smoothly. I have has such fun being the wedding coordinator for my own wedding and now Morgan's!
Morgan and Edgar are going on a cruise for their Honeymoon but are leaving a week after the wedding. So the wedding night they are staying in a hotel in Gatlinburg with a lazy river in it! So cool!
I wish Morgan and Edgar the very best! I am so happy for them and so excited for their future!!! They will live in Johnson City where Morgan has been for her Eastman job since January. Edgar starts his 2 years left of his bachelors degree at ETSU in July and they are bringing Edgar's dog Maya, a husky, to live with them the weekend after they get back from their cruise.
Here's to the happy couple of 8 years!!!
Cody and I can't wait for many many double dates in the future!
With so much love,
Kayla Raborn- Matron of Honor
6-1-9
P.S.- Morgan and I are 3 years apart and our weddings are almost exactly 3 years apart (with Cody and I celebrating our 3rd anniversary on June 4th). Morgan is almost 23 when they get married and I was days away from 23 years old also when I married Cody. So crazy!
P.S.S.- Stay tuned for the next month when we get Morgan's actual wedding pictures back and I will be sharing them with you here on the blog! :)
