Happy 2019!!
May this year be the best yet for everyone!! I have such high hopes and dreams! 2018 was a year of big changes, how is it already over?! My word of the year was patience and that sure was tested! Happily I feel much more patient in general now! My word for this new 2019 year is calm. No matter what changes we come across, I am reminded to stay calm (because a lot of exciting things and changes are coming up) :).
-2018 was so good to us. I overcame many grueling (hour-wise) work trips to Wisconsin/Minnesota in the beginning of the year.
-Then (with me being the oldest cousin of both sides of my family), my cousin had a precious baby, James Elijah Dyar, and the next generation began just like that; it's so strange to get used to.
-In April Cody and I got our lot to build our first house on which we dream and envision our future on daily:). Then I tried every "fun" fad diet of the time just for fun to see what it would do.
-Three whole 30's and one keto later, spoiler alert, they both don't work (for me) or are very "fun" at all. They had some definite positives which I love learning but more negatives than positives.
-Then Cody and I went back to our favorite bi-yearly place, the beach, even trying out a new place Gulf Shores AL!
-We finished our house plans which we spent months and months and months on and absolutely love them!
-Cody and I turned a quarter of a century and all of the feeling that go along with that.
-And to end the year, my sister finished her engineering classes and student teaching graduating with her double major moving to Kingsport for her new job in a few weeks!
2019 holds many promises and lots and lots of big changes! We will be breaking ground soon and finishing our house moving in in September/October. I have lots of opportunities in my job which is going really really well and makes me so happy! We also have one other big thing coming down the pipes too (not kids);). And this time next year we will start looking to add to our family by four paws, a new doggie!:) (a goldador which is a golden retriever crossed with a lab retriever), we already have the doggies gender and name picked out! Time to start saving extra money!
3....2....1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!
God is so good, to him be the glory. May this year be blessed for you with so many new beginnings and opportunities! Love the Raborns! P.S. check out the latest 2-3 new blog posts. #2019 #20k19
Dolly Wood Christmas
...................................................
So the last Christmas celebration of the year rolled around, my mom's! We celebrated by going to Christmas at Dolly Wood! That was my third time ever to visit Dolly Wood and it sure didn't disappoint. I absolutely had a BLAST! I even swallowed my fears and road a coaster in the dark and a fast twisty backwards coaster.
This was the last Christmas celebration day there and the last day of operation until mid March. Mom went above and beyond taking us here, getting us complementary parking, making glass ornaments, candle making, Christmas shows, steam engine rides, yummy food, and unlimited rides! I truly had the best time I have had in a good while! It wasn't even that crowded!
Stay tuned for the NYC blog filled with pictures of the sights to see! :)
That's one item to mark off of my bucket list! :) It was so much fun visiting dad and seeing where he now lives. I could never ever EVER. live in NYC but i'm glad dad is so happy and i'm even happier that he will be home within the next 4 years.

My sweet sweet mama.
Glacier ridge was a new addition and it was really pretty!
It was so special being able to get into the Christmas spirit one last time before Christmas comes again in 355 days. It was just what I needed to lift my spirits to continue on in 2019.
The true reason for the season folks, even Dolly Parton thinks so too.
Making our custom glass ornaments.
Pink and yellow/orange for me!
Finished product! I can't wait to put this on my tree next year!
On to the steam engine! Steam engines like this one use coal like the first trains! Nowadays they are electric or diesel run. I have always loved trains and think they are extremely fascinating. The first ENGINEers ;). With this being said, we had to watch our eyes for cinders. I also thought the picture above was so rustic looking!
Before jumping on the rides we made our candles!
First time ever dipping candles!
In honor of Cody not being there (and how much I love him :)) I chose football helmets and made them his past present and future school colors.
I would NOT want to be the one taking these down.
Fake snow!
We arrived 45 minutes before opening and left 30 minutes before it closed. Once it was dark the lights were so magnificent! We walked around just admiring the decorations.
We hated to leave. Once we found the car (after 20 minutes straight of thinking it was stolen lol) we drove to Nana's house and mom went back to Gigi's to prepare for teaching kids Sunday school the next morning, and I drove home to see Cody and go to our church. After church I prepared for my 3 day work week because.....I'm going to NYC with Morgan and Nana to visit dad! I am so so so excited!
Stay tuned for the NYC blog filled with pictures of the sights to see! :)
Love,
Kayla
