Our sweet Conner James is 7 months old!!! This month he celebrated his first Christmas and New Year, he met Santa, he tried his first gymnastics class, and he was dedicated into our church family💕. He got to experience his first snow and loved it, he also got his new set of braces. This month Conner tried solids for the first time and loved them all so much! He is trying to drink water out of his little baby cup. The biggest milestone of this month is his scooching! He can now scooch backwards and is getting around!! So close to crawling!🤞🏻 He can also go from sitting to the crawling position, and as of a few days ago he is starting to try to pull up on me and his toys🥳. Conner also got his first tooth, his bottom left tooth and handled it pretty well! Conner is playing with more of his toys, and he loves to pull my earrings now, his favorite toy🤪. Conner laughs when Lucy gets scolded, and he loves Lucy's toys and she loves his toys. They seriously need a switch🤣. He is very much saying dada lately and loves to "bounce" on our laps while standing up. The braces help him do that well. Last doctors visit he was in the 75th percentile in height, 45th percentile in weight, and 20th percentile in head circumference. We are looking forward to what this next month brings us with sweet Conner❤️ he brings us such joy💕.
Rice then veggies first!! He liked the rice until I ran out of frozen breastmilk and had to use water. His favorite food was sweet potato and least favorite was pears when we introduced it the day before his 7 month birthday. We only feed him once a day with solids but will move to twice a day starting at 7 months!
We were so impressed how excited he was to eat food and how he immediately knew how to feed himself!! We also LOVE this bib smock, it is a lifesaver!
Conner tired his first gymnastics class! It is once a month until he turns 1 then it will be weekly. He was the youngest there but loved it despite the look on his face at the end lol. He was SO tired. There is so much research on how starting tumbling/gymnastics early is so great for his development and future athleticism. We plan to have him in gymnastics until he is in kindergarten.
No sleep no how. We are really struggling getting him to sleep in his crib but we are slowly making progress.
Conner met Santa and loved every second. He loved his long white beard and sitting on his lap!
Family Christmas's!! I have stopped posting about family on all platforms of social media for a few years now because in-laws use it against me (hi there), and my family doesn't like to be shown so I respect that completely. I just miss the fun family scenes and pictures.
My perfect little buddy!
Christmas morning!! Conner loved openeing all of his presents and loved what he got! Santa did a great job :D. Also Lucy loved her presents too!!
Christmas hugs from Conner!
The biggest milestone of the month, scooching/crawling-ish and trying to pull up to stand!! He can crawl out of his braces completely but backwards. He is all over the place!! It's so neat!
Decorated his first edible Christmas tree craft!
And of course, on the day after Christmas, it snowed. What I would give for a white Christmas just one more time!!
Conner's new bedding from Gigi Becker!! It reminds me of the safari theme from Animal Kingdom.
We watched Tennessee in the bowl game! Go Vols!
And Conner was dedicated into our church family and to be raised in the way of the Lord by us and his family. That is what is most important.
We rang in the New Year (Conner fell asleep at 10:30pm though, he almost made it). Cheers to 2023!!
This year's word in 2022 was faith, the faith we needed in God that got us through the rest of my pregnancy waiting for Conner's arrival. I leaned on my faith heavily and to not live in fear.
Cheers to 2023! Conner couldn't hang so it's just mom and dad (and Lucy) tonight 💕. Our word of the year is love❤️. We have so much love in our hearts from our little guy 👶🏼💙 he keeps us smiling and so happy every day. I look forward to watching Conner grow this year and what blessings are to come. Towards the end of this year we also hope to start thinking about adding even more love to our family, Lord willing🙏🏻. We are so excited to ring in the New Year and see what is in store for our little family❤️.
Also today on the 31st marks around when our angel baby would have turned 2 years old. Our life would look so different if that baby stayed with us. We most likely would have just welcomed or would be welcoming very soon our second baby if our first baby had been born 2 years ago. Conner wouldn't exist and things would be very different. It's the what if's that get me. Even though that baby was only the size of sweet pea when he/she went to join Jesus, I want to honor him or her because that is part of our story and we love that baby. Just because we have Conner here doesn't mean that that first baby didn't exist. It is almost even more painful now knowing how perfect it is having Conner here and what we missed with that first baby and how that first baby will never get to experience our love here on earth. It is painful. The experience shaped who we are now and changed our path forever. I wonder every day who that little person would have been. I look forward to meeting that first family member we grew in heaven one day.❤️
So Conner (and us) got to witness history being made in our small town of Apison TN, and to the history/record book. There was a huge train collision not even 5 minutes from our house and we weren't able to go in that area for a long time. With the new construction and new traffic light, a truck carrying a 60+ft beam across the tracks got stopped by the red light at the other side and was completely across the tracks and of course the train came and smashed into the truck and completely derailed the train. That train is extremely active and runs across about 3 times an hour, very stupid of the truck driver to play chicken with a train. It's a miracle no one was seriously hurt or worse. The area it fell was an area Lucy and I frequently walk. If we had been there that day to walk, it could have likely rolled on top of us in a flash and killed us instantly. So a few days after the incident, we went the back way as far as we could and walked the rest of the way to witness the train on the ground (which is still there). It severely impacts transportation of goods out of our Little Debbie factory so they have been working feverishly to get the tracks cleared. It is vey eerie to see everything on the ground. Crazy to be alive to see this and have this happen.
My little buddy!!
Lucy hated the New Years Eve fireworks.
Also his greatest accomplishment as well is pulling up. We have to modify so many of his things now because he actively stands up on things and tries to pitch himself over. Very scary.
Here's to month 7 which everyone says is a big one!!
Love,
Kayla Raborn
