Final Wedding Planning Part 2, Bridal Showers!

To start off my last blog before the wedding and last blog as a Dyar, wedding planning, I forgot to post these pictures of graduation. So here is a photo I managed to find off of my Grandmother's camera of the dinner at Lakeside after the graduation ceremony. This was indeed the restaurant Cody proposed at ;). We had the whole crew surround at one big table. I love family!!

I had to post this (with Cody's permission) it is so cute! He was holding my balloons as I was fixing my shoe and I couldn't resist taking a picture (tie was blown over his shoulder due to the wind).

My cute little flower girl, cousin Ada! She is such a blessing!!!

So back to the wedding planning! This is a picture from last Saturday at my second bridal shower. I had an absolute blast! All of the females from the family came to support me and literally shower me with love. It was so refreshing to have a party of only girls.

Some of Gigi's two best friends threw me the shower and made me feel like a princess! It was so eloquent, just look at how everything was set up! The food was amazing too!!

Here were the sweet two ladies, Carol and Joyce!

The table set up! Absolutely perfect!

This was the other room where we sat to eat since there were so much of us!

My beautiful mama!!

Carol, Nana, Laura my cousin-in-law, Jody, Gigi, Sasha, Debbie, and Cody's Nana.

My table with both my mother and mother-in-law, Morgan, and one of mom's best friends, Mary Beth.

Kim, my sister-in-law Amy, Joyce, and Janet.

Great picture of my mother-in-law, and of Nana!

Even the presents had my wedding colors!! Everything was very thought out!

After eating everyone sat around me and I opened presents. It was different having all eyes on me but I figured that was good practice for the wedding!

Look at this beautiful Bride bag I got from my mom!!!! It makes me so happy!! Mom is so sweet and knows me so well!

Sasha, my cousin-in-law, helped get the rest of my everyday dishes and that is a huge blessing!!!

My aunt-in-law Laurie got me a hodgepodge of very useful kitchen tools! (I love anything kitchen!!)

We got our brown towels!!

A knife set for Cody which he is ecstatic about!

A set of sheets :)

And Janet made this cute cute little handkerchief dress with my new initials sewn into it!! It was so precious!! I love anything with my new initials! Right up my alley!

Janet also embroidered this AWESOME Raborn fabric frame for our apartment! It immediately went on top of our refrigerator so the first thing you see when you get in is the 'Raborn'.

This was all 17 of the sweet sweet family members there for me! I loved talking to every one of them and getting to see them again since most of the time it is usually a 1-2 year thing sadly.

Sweet friends.

So my third shower happened to be the next day! I wore this awesome tulle skirt because I wanted to be different! I added the pop of turquoise for some color! But it felt very bridal to me, I loved it! The third shower was thrown by my church family! It was the sweetest most touching thing! The lady who threw it was named Denise and she even went as far as making purple cupcakes, punch, and turquoise decorations!! It was absolutely amazing! Cupcakes are one of my favorite desserts and I love icing so I was one happy bride-to-be! The punch was very delicious too! All the ladies in the church were so sweet and gave some wonderful marriage advice that I will keep forever! I love my church so much and It breaks my heart to have to "leave" it.

Me and my maid of honor!

Those were two extremely happy days!

The cupcakes I was talking about! (punch wasn't served at this point yet)

The presents matched my color theme also here! The shower was so warm and sweet even pastor Ann came! I love her so much!! I've never met a more godly woman in my life! She is an amazing pastor and has a true gift!

So moving on to now......

Yesterday I got my hair highlighted and flat ironed for the day! A few people called me Morgan from behind. So now my hair is officially ready for the wedding! It has been cut and colored!

The other night it just hit me. it totally hit me. I am getting married and it is really happening. I had to capture my face! I am just on top of the world right now!

As what's next, see the previous post for a detailed schedule :).  On a side note, today was the first time I ever wrote my name with my new last name! It was so strange looking! It was almost felt like to me it was wrong and I needed to erase it and change it like that's not me!! But I will get used to it!

I also now officially have my name on our apartment lease!! I am thrilled because now I can get into our apartment complex by myself!!

Lately I have been getting lots of questions if I am nervous or scared and honestly what could I be scared about? I am marrying the best man in the entire world for me, who loves me and puts me before himself. He protects me and loves me even when I am being a pain. He actually loves me even more then! He is slow to anger and never gets mad at me. Frustrated? Maybe, lol, but he is always the first to keep moving forward. He never holds on to the negative or the bad and he loves the Lord more than he loves me. What more could I ever ask for in life for a guy? He is compatible to my every characteristic and personality trait, and laughs at the same thing I find funny. He misses me when we are away, and works extremely hard for us. I can tell him anything and not have to worry about being judged. He makes me feel so beautiful! He is my best friend! I have never been so sure about anything in my life.

See everyone after the wedding and honeymoon!
Love,
Kayla Dyar (Raborn)

Final Wedding Planning Part 1

So I'm back with the back-to-back blog post!! Now I will go very very in-depth on the past, present, and future wedding planning! For those of you who like these kind of posts, you will enjoy this!!

So on the move out day, as you can see below, Cody and I picked up his wedding band!! Doesn't it look awesome!!!! I mean it looks like it was made for his hand; I can't wait until he can wear it!!! I also can't wait for my wedding band! I have no idea what it looks like, Cody has kept it a surprise.

I liked it so I put a ring on it ;).

Throughout the end of school and now I have been getting a few gifts in the mail from our wedding registries at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. Let me tell you, the level of excitement as you see your name on a package at the door is unreal! EEEKS! :D

We love cooking and baking and are so excited for the cake plate and of course the sheets above!! Wow they are soft and of course much needed! Especially since Cody moved into the apartment and needed a place to sleep with sheets.

And look at this beautiful blue mixer!! Its a KitchenAid mixer!! Wow! It will look amazing in our kitchen and will help us bake delicious cookies!!

One of my mom's friends at school monogrammed this for me!! She is so sweet! My new initials!!! YAY! I will be changing my name after the honeymoon to Kayla Nicole Raborn. That will take some getting used to. I hear the name changing process is tedious and not very fun so I look forward to getting that over with so I can just be a Raborn already!

One super exciting thing is my hair length! Those biotin supplements are AMAZING!! I have been taking multi-vitamins, biotin, drinking green tea, and have been eating coconut oil! Both create a flatter belly! I have also been rubbing coconut oil on my skin after a shower to moisturize and exfoliate. Coconut oil is supposed to be really good for you!! I have always dreamed of my hair being this long on my wedding day, and look! It's literally like a blanket.

If you can see, I thought this would be a neat schematic to show the wedding-eve schedule. It will be a crazy day especially since the wedding the next day will take place earlier in the day. It is accurate except the rehearsal starts at 5:00pm and rehearsal dinner at Calhouns on the River begins at 6:30pm.

I know you are probably tired of seeing this but here is or reception place, The Reserve at BlueBird Hill. It takes your breath away every time! (Ignore the black bars above and below the pic)

I decided to show this again because this will be a close representation of the table and chairs inside the reserve.

So the Sunday after my last day of classes, I spent time with mom and ordered a few things needed for the wedding such as his/her glasses to drink out of, a guest book, advice box for the reception table, and an In memory board dedicated to the ones in the family deceased and could not attend. Also every day I keep a document that keeps track of the response cards I receive in the mail letting us know who can or cannot attend the wedding. I also write thank you letters about every day to the people who send gifts for graduation and weddings. Everyone truly is so nice.

On Monday the 9th Cody and I changed the cake order to accommodate 150 guests instead of 90. That added extra $$ which always stinks. But we need cake, I mean come on! Won't you want cake when you get there? And maybe even two pieces!? No one will judge! And it's a wedding, MY wedding even, and let me tell you I will be eating cake and most likely 2 pieces! The cake will be amazing, not dry like most wedding cakes! It is a white champagne cake that is super super super moist. The icing is extremely sugary so beware! (get middle cuts) Cheryll McMillan is an amazing baker! She even let me implement my own design! Our grooms cake is really special, you won't want to miss it ;). Seriously.

On Tuesday the 10th Mom and Morgan and I met with my preacher to go over last minute details and to decide how Cody and I will be announced, and who sits where. We then met with our reception event coordinator to determine where the cake, tables, dance floor, DJ, and food will go. I also turned in my dang new computer. I have had 3 serious problems with it in the past 11 months and that makes me furious. We then went to Belk and I found and purchased my shower dresses!!! We went to Hobby Lobby next and got chalk boards to write our story on for the reception and really neat things on that I won't share yet to keep it a surprise! Next was Nana's house to organize my wedding closet. We keep all of the wedding things here because her house is 1 minute away from the church and 10 from the hair place.

On Wednesday the 18th of May I sat down at the kitchen table for 4 hours and created an hour-by-hour schedule for the wedding party, family, preacher, wedding coordinator, DJ, photographer, and videographer. Yep it took forever but felt so nice to be organized. That factor alone took a lot of stress off of me. Here's a sneak peak:

I am going to try my best the day before, the day of, and of course the honeymoon to keep off of social media all together to keep it a special time. It will be so surreal the moment Cody and I part ways after the rehearsal dinner while I go to Nana's and he drives to the hotel.  But don't worry, I will most likely post a pic before bed the night before because I will be emotional and excited, and probably the second day of the honeymoon to show the dress and a honeymoon pic. We are going to a surprise location! I am very excited about the honeymoon especially since Cody and I have saved ourselves for each other which makes it so special. That was very important to us in our over 5 year relationship and not many people can say they did that. It wasn't easy but it was a personal decision we both made long before we even met. I also can't wait to have Cody all to myself for a whole week! I am a little selfish with our time. 5 years of long distance is waaaaay too much! I will never want to be apart from him ever again haha! I hope not even for a single night!

On today, Friday May 20th I have my last dress fitting!! I am pumped to bring my dress home!! I hope everything fits and is correct!! Fingers crossed!!

On Saturday the 21st I have my second official shower!! My Gigi's sweet friends Carol and Joyce are throwing me a bridal shower luncheon!!! I am dying to get there already haha! It will be so much fun! This is a shower mainly for family where my first was for friends and the last will be for church friends. I will not have a bachelorette party, Cody and I think that and bachelor parties are a little much for our traditional taste. Besides, some of the things I hear that go down at bachelorette parties I want nothing to do with. Yikes! Also on this evening I will be getting my final hair trim before the wedding and will be fixing up our apartment a little more. Sorry I don't have more pics guys and this is a lot of writing.

On Sunday the 22nd I will have my church bridal shower with all of the sweet ladies at my church. It will be such a bittersweet day as it is one of my last times there before I move to Chatt. I will always visit but it isn't the same. It took me forever to find this church. Oh well, God knows what the future holds and maybe we will be back in Knoxville one day soon? On this day I will also be meeting with my pianist for the wedding to get the songs down for the ceremony.

On Monday the 23rd, I will be writing my letter to my mom for the day of the wedding along with Cody's. It will probably be a book ha. That will be so emotional to write. It is a long time coming. Over 5 years of dating is a long long time. (for us at least)

On Tuesday the 24th I will be sorting through my diaries I will be giving Cody the night before the wedding. Since our first date, April 1st 2011, I have written to/about Cody in a diary that eventually turned into 4! (This blog has kind of taken its place for the last year). I can't wait to give Cody the diaries as he can relive our relationship as we fell in love. I will highlight my favorite two entries from all 4 books for him to read, don't worry I won't keep him up all night with that the night before the wedding lol.

On Wednesday the 25th I will be creating my wedding program for the ceremony with Gigi. She is really good with that kind of stuff!

On Thursday the 26th my dad comes back in again for the wedding from Texas! I can't wait to see him! He will stay all the way to June 6th!

On Friday the 27th I have a hair appointment to get hair highlights done for the last time so my roots won't be showing in the pictures (I get very gentle highlights) Throughout my time at college and limited sunlight my hair has gotten about 2 shades darker. I also have a facial that day. I will need that. I typically enjoy facials more than massages. I will also NOT be getting any sort of tan. I am naturally a very pale pale person and I don't want people to not recognize me. The honeymoon will take care of the tan. Also on this day Cody and I will be registering for our marriage license, so exciting!! It is also Cody's last day of school (thank goodness we moved the wedding date to June 4th instead of the original May 28th last year or Cody would have not been able to even make the rehearsal dinner! I am going to drive down and surprise him and take him to see X-men apocalypse. He has no idea about any of this. It will also be a very significant and special weekend as it will be our last weekend before we become husband and wife. Man i'm excited.

On Saturday the 28th I will be putting my name on the lease to our apartment officially so we will be all ready.

On Sunday the 29th I will be doing a bunch of last minute things getting ready and making the honeymoon and wedding day emergency kits. According to pinterest that is vitally important. I will also take this day to pack for the honeymoon. Now that is when it gets real.

And for the rest of the days you can see the schedule in blue conveniently above:)

I was sorting through things for the wedding and ran across this, Cody and I both at around 8 months old. Look how cute!! Especially Cody, he is precious. Our future kids will be GORGEOUS blonde haired blue-eyed beauties. :) (Cody was born with clubbed feet which had to be re-broken after birth and casted for 2 years).

Also, my good friend Brianna and I met for lunch and a Victoria's Secret Shopping haul the other day and had an absolute blast! I can say I am very prepared for the honeymoon! Brianna is so much fun and I love spending time with her! I can't wait to come visit from Chattanooga to hang out!

Wedding planning part 2 will come after the rest of the planning most likely either right before the wedding or when we get back from the honeymoon. Or maybe even after we blog about the wedding/honeymoon. Who knows!?! There will be more pictures on the next blog on the events that I listed that haven't happened on this blog yet.

Goodness I am feeling so blessed, the Lord is so good!! I just can't wait to be able to finally call Cody my husband! Marriage is one of God's greatest gifts to us and I can't wait to live it out!!

Love,
Kayla Dyar (Raborn)

15 DAYS LEFT!!1

End of School and Graduation!!!

Hi everyone I'm back!! And i'm picking back up at the best part! I finished up my last semester ever at college, graduated, and within this past week and the next two I have been massively wedding planning! And after the Wedding comes more blog posts of the pictures and honeymoon details (swimming with the dolphins, parasailing, deep sea fishing, and eating at yummy restaurants; I had to specify because.....you know ;)). But anyways, expect a lot of exciting things to happen and stay tuned for their posts!

So after my last post back in March, Hannah my cousin on her LDS mission came home! We were so excited to see each other and catch up! 18 months is waaaaay too long! Also Easter was the next weekend after spring break and we had a blast! Gigi is so sweet to put together our annual Easter dinner, egg hunt and prize wall. The weekend after that Cody and I went on a date day to the Knoxville Zoo! If anyone didn't know, the zoo is one of my favorite places! The weekend following that was my first dress fitting and guess what!?! I fit into a NEW size down! I am so proud of myself! I have been working very hard!! At the store I tried on a very worn size 10 wedding dress and my un-stretched size 8 wedding dress fit like a glove! Wahoo!! Also Cody and the groomsmen got fitted for their tuxes! The week after that, my classes were winding down and final exams started. This semester of final exams were especially tough because all 6 of my exams were squeezed into 2 days. I probably averaged 4 hours of sleep a night for the last week and a half. But as you see below it was my final night and I had until midnight to turn it in and I had the most trouble with the paper and made a web of lies. Cody suggested I make a web to help my thoughts flow better and the whole goal of the paper was to create a 'fake' NIH (national institution of health) proposal on how to cure or treat a disease through cell and tissue interactions. That was for my tissue engineering class. I finished 13 minutes before midnight! Talk about burning the candle at both ends!

After midnight, I spent 3 1/2 hours packing my dorm up like crazy because mom and Cody were going to be there bright and early the next morning to move me out. To say I was tired was an understatement. The next morning with the three of us it took 5.5 hours to completely move me out! Impressive! We finished 3 minutes before checkout time! I managed to snap a quick picture of the last time I would ever wake up to this exquisite view above! I mean wow! God's beauty is breathtaking!! I am so glad to be officially out of dorm/on-campus apartment life! After that we moved all of my things to my grandmothers house and Cody and I's apartment in Chattanooga. The next morning I woke up and took a day trip to Chattanooga and spent 7 hours straight with no food organizing our apartment so Cody could move in that night and live comfortably in it. I got back to Knoxville at 1:30am and man, on Tuesday I crashed big time!

On a side note, this is what happens when I comb my curls out. I can never comb my hair after it has dried from the shower but this day I wanted to. About a minute after this picture my hair grew 3 sizes out ha.

This is living proof I took the getting healthy thing serious and ate my vegetables. I cut out all junk food, sweets, and packaged foods. (I do really like Brussels sprouts though)! Plus I had an incentive, FITTING INTO MY WEDDING DRESS!! Mega important!

This was the moment after I turned in my last final. I ran down the hall on snapchat celebrating.

After everything had died down, (as much as it can with my life) I took time at my other grandmothers house, Nana, to watch the recorded Kentucky Derby! The horse I "bet on" didn't win :( luckily I was only betting with myself lol! I watched the entire 3 total hours of the pre and post show of the Derby! Horses are one of my passions! I used to ride for 3 years!!

Look at this beautiful arrangement grown over my Gigi's mailbox!!

Once I settled into Gigi's house I realized I was going to have to move back and forth between 5 different houses a bunch of times within the next 4 weeks. And that's just what is happening. It is very stressful but it is worth not living together before marriage and obey the Lord's covenant to us. I do not believe in moving in or living together before marriage.

As you know, I have trouble fixing these type of pictures. Yes I know it is probably easy but I am working on my old computer because my new one broke before spring break and it is a nightmare working on this computer. Also I hope you all enjoy this and the next blog post because it has taken me 3 days to make due to EVERY SINGLE DIFFICULTY you could imagine. I was NOT a happy camper. But the pic above and below is what I walked into when I came 'home'. It was such a sweet refreshing surprise. My mom is the best you guys!!

My mom was able to take a day off of work the first full week I was back home to help me with wedding planning, God bless her, and we were out from 9:15am to 7:30pm. We probably accomplished 1/4 left of what we have to do. Mom is awesome and means business! One thing that was not on the list but I needed desperately was a new phone case. My old one was broken and over a year old and I needed a new one because I drop my phone a lot and needed protection around it. Isn't it beautiful!! It is a Kate Spade phone case!!

So real quick I want to show you the progress I made on our apartment! I am so proud of myself!! This is our office! Cody put together the tables, I was so impressed!!! His desk is on the right and mine is on the left. I am so glad I can show you guys the finished products. The only thing not done is the master bedroom, that will come soon.

This is our cozy living room. What do you think? I am the most excited about this room !

This is my little reading nook! I am so glad to finally have this back from high school! I now feel like I can pick my life back up where I left off! I want to read, hike, bake, cook, shop, go on date nights, attend family events/celebrations, watch a movie, not be stressed, spend time with Cody, and go to sleep reallllly late and wake up reallllly late. College took a lot out of me and changed my personality a little bit. I have to say I was more pleasant before college. I'm not going to lie, college made me slightly bitter. It was so hard for me and I truly believe college is not for me at all but of course I would never stop or quit. It's against everything in me and all I have been taught. I will NEVER give up.

This is the dresser and jewelry box in our bedroom. Look how gorgeous it is! (And yes that wedding picture is not us. It came in the frame as a place holder for when we get the pictures back.)

This is my bathroom, yes you heard right, we have separate bathrooms. It works for Cody and I, the counter space is smaller, Cody likes the roomier shower in the other bathroom better and for the first few months he will be working and I won't be so our wake up times are completely different and I am an EXTREMELY light sleeper.

One nice thing about being home with family is I know this is my last time with them before I am married so we are soaking in every last second we can together as the three Dyar girls. (I will not be keeping my maiden name; I have surprisingly been asked that often). Almost every weekend we will go on a walk. All three of us have bad allergies so we sneeze together:).

The Wednesday before graduation was graduation practice for the engineers (only college of engineers graduated Saturday). They proceeded to tell us for 15 minutes the importance of wearing clothes under our graduation robes due to last years events. Odd. Friday was the MSE banquet where parents got to meet the professors! I loved showing mom and dad my teachers and dad showing me around campus of what used to be where! It was a day I will never forget!

Now on to graduation!!!! On the morning of graduation, I got all dressed and ready and couldn't believe it was finally here! I had to grab a quick selfie!! (Thank you Gigi for letting me borrow the beautiful necklace!!)

Me, Morgan, Mom, Gigi, and Granddad drove to campus at 11:00am to take pictures for 2 hours in my favorite spots. This spot above is my absolute favorite spot on the entire campus. It overlooks downtown and the sunsphere, my favorite!!

A closer up on my cap and gown! The lovely seal!

And sewn into my robe!!

Best sign on campus. If i'm not mistaken there are three of these.

The new walking bridge! This was here my freshmen year but was torn down the next three years and built the last year. They really outdid themselves, it is beautiful!! If you look very closely you can see me up there!!

I of course had to get a picture in front of Neyland Stadium. This is one of my favorite spots on campus since I was a little girl and was brought to UT games. GO VOLS! I can't wait to attend the games as an ALUMNI!!!! WAHOO!! P.S. I already have an Alumni key chain and licence plate!

This is where every single class of the last 2.5 years of college was at. Ferris Hall. One of the oldest buildings. So many memories in this building.

Wa-bam!

Selfie!

The magnificent iconic Ayers Hall behind me. I had every math class in this building. Stunning building!

What a beaut!

This picture is very special to me. Every Tuesday and Thursday Morgan and I would have lunch together here and it was the most special thing. I think we became even closer than we already were! There is nothing like having a sister! Thanks mom and dad!! :)

Back at the house on the scenic porch! As you can tell, we are excited. I don't know if mom is more excited than me!

Granddad and Gigi!

The actual graduation arena. It was packed!!!

The graduating class of 2016 Materials Science and Engineering. We had a small class! Which proves you can have that small campus feel in a mega school! I only had 15 people per class! (junior and senior year) 500 per class freshmen year. Yeah I know. Left to right: Sam, me, Connor, Willie, Austin, Andre, Duncan, Jack, Nick, and Courtney (not pictured Brianna and Robert).

Mom and Dad were the first to run and greet me after the ceremony! Do I favor my mom more or dad? I've heard both ways.

Of course, after graduation photo shoot! lol! This is the Dyar clan, Uncle Wade, Aunt Jody, Dad, Tonya his girlfriend, me, Cody, Morgan, Edgar her boyfriend, Nana, and Nathan!

The Raborn clan! Cody's mom's mom, Nana, Tyler my bro-in-law, Miles Cody's dad, me, Cody, Jamie Cody's mom, and Papa Jamies dad.

This picture is so special because it is all of the UT graduates in my family, my mom's family, my dad's family, and Cody's family. You wonder why I chose UT? My late grandfather also went here!

I'm not sure why this pic is so wonky and placed over there but here is mi familia! I do love them!!

My Becker family, Granddad, Morgan, Me, Cody, Mom, and Gigi.

After the picture session we went to Lakeside Tavern the placed Cody proposed to me and we ate dinner with the Becker side and Cody's family! It was so special!

When we got home my Becker cousins, aunt, and uncle painted the back of my van! I liked this!!

The actual dress I wore to Graduation!

They also decorated the mailbox!! I felt very special that day! I am the first grandchild on both sides and the first grandchild to graduate college so far!!! Morgan isn't too far behind!! ;)

Sweet Ada was so excited about this! She along with my other two cousins Jacob and Charlie and aunt Stephanie, and uncle Paul, made me cards!! I will keep them forever!!

For the rest of the weekend into the next week, Morgan and I stayed at our Nana's house with our Dad, Nana, and our Dad's girlfriend to spend time together since dad lives in Texas. Also the other Dyar's stayed the weekend and each night was an absolute blast! We stayed up until 3:00am talking and playing apples to apples! It got a little crazy! Also I was celebrated at my church for graduating. They had a special ceremony for us and a small gift! Once the other Dyar's went home it was my dad's birthday on the 16th so we celebrated him by playing tennis, going to the bookstore and playing mini golf all together!

The next post will fill you in on any and all wedding planning that has been made since May 7th my last day of school!

And that's all folks!
